Did some digging and so far found out that in 2000 German Daimler Chrysler, Chrysler owner as well, controlled 34% of Mitsubishi

Update:

Looks like our a$$e$ are owned even by the French
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_Mo...DaimlerChrysler

Daimler has no more the majority of shares, as of Dec 9 2005 most of the shares went back to Japanese ownership.

still, my lancer is expecting you to say you're sorry for insulting it's front end, by comparing it to charger!

Chrysler used to be in league with Mitsubishi under Diamond-Star Motors. It started in the mid 80s and continued until 91 when Mitsu bought out the rest of the company and worked with Chrysler on a contract basis. Chrysler finally gave out in 93 and in 95 DSM became Mistubishi Motors officially.
They do not own Mitsubishi anymore, I think this is what you might be referring to.

Three of the vehicles produced by Diamond-Star Motors early gen Eclipse, Eagle Talon, and Plymouth Laser are referred to as DSMs.

Yeah I am fairly certain that my 01' Spyder had a 3.0L Chysler Sebring Engine in it. I noticed that some of the earlier 3G Eclipses had engines with the Mitsu logo and part numbers embrodered while others like mine did not. Probably explains the horrible re-sale value, lol

don't know if it is the same world wide, but in south africa, mitsubishi is distributed by Mercedes Benz (formerly Daimler Chrysler) - they are still sold pretty-much exclusively through mercedes dealerships. In fact, the triton, like the colt (pick-up truck) before it is manufactured at the local mercedes benz plant. think this might just be an arrangement for south africa though.

do a google image search and compare the 3000 gt and the dodge stealth, same car, built under contract between the two companies. Somewhere out there on the internet is a neat little diagram that shows all the car manufacturers based on ownership. I'm not sure if I can found it now but if someone else knows what I'm talking about maybe they will post a link.

That would be the one, I'm not sure how up to date it is either but it gives you the basic idea of just who owns what.

Yeah and the same company that makes the Panda would make some of the most expensive cars in the world.
