On a 1982 4G64 motor, the service manual lists that the ignition timing should be 5 degrees BTDC but there is also a sticker on the air cleaner that says it should be 13 degrees BTDC.

Does anyone know what is should be? Perhaps I should split the difference and go for 9 degrees BTDC!

Depending if its electro or hydro mechanical advance , 15/12 will be a cold setting to which it will vary down to 5 on its own within warm up and vacuum load at ranged rpm. So the appropriate would be between 15 and 10 while cold.

going lower than this will cause over advancment under engine load when it advances itself
