There are a few things we need to figure out first. You might have typed the year or model wrong in your post.

You said you have a 1997 Eclipse GS that has a 4g63. This can not be true. There weren't any Eclipse GS's made from 1995 to 1999 that had that engine. They were all 420a engines.

Now, if you meant you have a 1997 Eclipse "GS-T" that is a different story. If that is the case then you already have a 4g63T engine because all Eclipses that had the 4g63 engine from 1995-1999 have the 4g63T.

If you in fact have an Eclipse GS with the 4g63 engine then your car has to be between the years of 1989 - 1994.

If you open up your driver's door you will see a white sticker on the painted metal where the door seals. Read that sticker and let us know for sure what year and model your car is.

A very few number of eclipses were shipped to europe. They all had the 4g63. The swap is VERY easy. In fact its a direct drop in. The only thing you will need is a new exhaust, engine harness, and Mass Air Flow Sensor (maybe a few other things here and there but thats about it).

The only difference between the 4g63 and 4g63T is different pistons.

when they are saying 6 botl or 7 bolt, they are refering to your CRANK. our 6 bolt motors are the more popular of choice and swaps. After I believe 94, the 7 bolt cranks became more prone to what they call crankwalk. This had something to do with the oil squirters in the block.

They say the best combo is a 6 bolt block with a 4 bolt rear.

Guys am I giving miss information?????

FWD is Front wheel drive
AWD is All Wheel Drive

6 or 7 bolt crank, will also tell you what CLUTCH you need to buy or oil pan

I would have to assume since your vehicle was made after 1992 that the 4g63 engine used in your car is the same as every 7-bolt from 1995-1999 in every eclipse turbo model. Either way, any 4g63T you find that is in a car past 1995 will drop right in to your car.
