hello new to forum and mitsu"s 2004 gts allthe traction stabilty and abs lighyts came on so I shut the car off went to start it no battery juice so got a jump drove home 15 miles or so just on the altenator and replaced battery. started up fine but all the same lights are on and sometime idles real funny. I can get the lights to go off IF i turn the key on and off four times then start it but I don't want to damage it.I CALLED THE DEALER AND HE SAID i NEED TO MYBE RESET THE ECU BUT HE CHARGES $90.00:devil: and wouldnt give me any hints and said there is no website to help me so I hope someone can prove him wrong! :bwekk:

use a scantool to safely clear fault codes.

In some pre-OBD II vehicles, disconnecting the battery or pulling the PCM fuse to clear the memory and turn CHECK ENGINE light off.

But i think, your car have an OBD II. Disconnecting the battery or pulling the PCM Fuse may or may not clear the codes and will just create more problems in your car with the following examples:

1) Disconnecting battery or pulling PCM Fuse may cause loss of important information that the PCM needs to function correctly.

2) In some vehicles, loss of power to the PCM may cause it to forget transmission settings and other essential data's.

It is recommended to use scantool or scanner software to do it. Only not the dealer can do the reset, all you have to do is to buy that stuff. i like AutoTap.
