Ok..... I have sort of an aggrivation lately...... this problem does not affect how the car runs. anyway..... when I'm driving down the road.... my car will whistle or make a whirring sound down the road..... it sounds like i almost have a turbo..... i checked the cool air intake... found no leaves or trash that could make it whistle.... i checked the throttle body and its clear too. the only thing that i can say is that the sound is RPM dependant. i first thought that the previous owner put some cheap ass little thing in the intake tube to make it "sound" like a turbo. but nothing...... just confusion to me.

P.S......... The filter is clean

Sometimes your antenna will make a whistling noise depending on how fast you're going.

Could also be a vacuum leak if it's when you get into your higher RPM's.

Ok I took my car to a mechanic since I was lost and couldn't figure things out. First off.... I have no external antenna lol.... Its inside the glass on the back window. The only thing that me and my mechanic can think of is a vacuum leak. The little plastic deal on the valve cover is loose like all hell so we're gonna change it tomorrow.

Hopefully that takes care of the problem. If not then you got yourself some more troubleshooting to do. But let us know how it goes.

Do you have an aftermarket intake or is it stock?

Most aftermarfet tubular intake stysems do have a slight whistle at like half throttle at kinda low RPM, but it only lasts for maybe 1 or 2 seconds.

By the way you should put that "spiral thingy" back in. (If it's actually a high quality one that is) the origonator of that concept, Tornado, is actually a good product not a rice sound emitter. I haven't had one, and I assume it probably does cause a bit more whistle, but it's also giving you about 3-5 extra MPG, and a few xtra ponies too.

Anyways, definately don't go rebuilding the motor, cuz you'll start it up and have the same thing still there.

Unless it's the intake like I mentioned, then it definately sounds like a Gasket, tube, or valve with a notable leak somewhere... did you check the EGR system?

Good luck!

Dude those spiral things are the biggest rip-offs in the world. They do not add MPG or any extra HP. They are a waste of money.

And sometimes when I'm on the highway I hear a light whistling or cracking noise but it sounds like it's coming from my windshield around the seals or something. That could also be your problem.
