Hey I did a search but couldn't really find anything pertaining so I hope this wasn't asked before. Is there any known problems with the main wiring harnesses on these cars? I am looking at buying a car with a wiring problem and I would like to know about it before I would buy it. The person that has the car says its a common problem with these cars.

I mean they DO go bad. But, as for a common problem, nah not really. The ECU usually goes before the wiring harness itself.

Ok thanks. That is what I thought. Anything electric will eventually go bad. Now I am wondering what is actually wrong with the car. It currently doesn't run but the price is right.

Don't get me wrong it could very well be the harness. Err... well... One of the parts of the harness atleast. The harness is composed of many differnet pieces. Lol. At any rate, what I am trying to get at is, don't rule it out quite yet. Definitely do a thorough check of it.

Well I am not ruling out that the harness isnt bad my thought is what would have made the harness go bad.

Could just be old age. Might not really be something making it bad, but That is def a possibility as well. What part of the harness is faulty?

Im not exactly sure (I havent even seen the car but my brother did). Supposedly its right where the harness goes through the fire wall.

that could be a horrible problem to track down and it might even just be a sensor. if you just want to get a whole new harness and install it that would probably be easier

If it's something you can obviously see, like it's all messed up around where it rubs on the firewall, or if a ret chewed through it, you can always cut out the bad parts and soldier and shrinkwrap it back together.

If you can't obviously see it, then you should start looking for a new wiring harness.

The car isnt running right now because of the wiring problem. I havent gotten a chance to hook up a code reader to see if a code popped up. Tomorrow I will see if I can.
