Recently my Eclipse has started stalling while I'm driving.. I thought it may have been the MAF but I replaced that and I still have the same issue. I'll be driving, and all of a sudden it's like my gas pedal does nothing, the engine shuts off, and if I push in the clutch, then the revs go down to 0. I'm able to start the car up again after about 5 seconds but a couple miles later it does the same thing again. I thought about the fuel filter, but i've heard the only filter this car has is inside the tank.

What could be causing this?

Throttle body is clean, I cleaned it a few months ago. This started out of nowhere about a week ago. I've stopped driving it till I can determine the cause and solution.

When I replaced the MAF I did disconnect the battery to reset the ECU.

Any ideas/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Check the usual one spark plug, spark plug wire,TPS, CPS. Does it throw anything on the check engine light?

Nope, no CEL. It's completely random. I took the car out for a drive yesterday, lasted 15 minutes without stalling then I got another stall.. then it ran fine again once i started it up.

Maybe you are having a problem with your idle speed controller or your nuetral safety switch.

perhaps this has somethin to do w/ it - I took the fuel pump out today figuring maybe I'd replace the filter. One of the electrical connectors for the fuel pump looks like it was shorting out - melted through its housing. I'm guessing it's time for a replacement?

That would be a safe assumption. I would replace it, it can't hurt anything to replace it even if it's not the source of your problem.

Just hurt your wallet lol. Definitely replace it before bigger things happen.

I was going to suggest looking at this from a fuel perspective. :)

I'm really trying to fix it to sell it. I bought a motorcycle and it's my sole transportation now. $200/mo for car insurance isn't worth it for me when i work at home. So i'm hoping that will fix it. I got the whole assembly from Autozone for $300
