ok, i finallly got my speakers and amp installed correctly but omg! my system was bumping so much harder in my civic with an aftermarket radio. do they even make an aftermarket radio kit to fit an 09 lancer with the air conditioner hole cut outs yet???? because im used to a loud system... and sometimes it just sounds like i got loud 6 by 9's back there and not two twelves!!! the stock radio on the 09 lancer has no power/volumn at all!!

The subs should be powered by the amplifier through it's gain adjustment, not solely the head unit volume.. check quality of grounds and all electrical, output of amp (move into another car if possible and try it), etc.

Dash kits are available:
Metra or Scosche.
http://www.metraonline.com/http://www.scosche.com/I've been in contact with Scosche and their product is about to be launched. Metra has had their kit out for a while.
I'm using the stock radio and didn't get good results with normal Lineout Converters so I fitted a RF 3Sixty processor. Incredible difference!

I've been seeing some of that Metra product deforming in heat.. maybe they have revised it. I'd check the other Lancer forums for people with it.
The stock RF system is built for definition and clarity with proper accents for certain frequency ranges -- to the point where it's said that Rockford designed the doors with Mitsubishi to act as tuned speaker cabinets. Of course, some find the sub still wanting for kick at low volume. That's the only part I think is can be improved, but never to the point where it overpowers the mids or highs. If they were just going for pure dB while chucking clarity out the window, they would have thrown a W15 in the spare tire.
It's kind of amazing how many people I find that are running large subs and high power amps right off the alternator.. capacitors, people.
Ooh, that 3Sixty is purty.. pricey, but purty.
