Hi, new bloke here, I have a 1997 Challeneger 3500GDI. The problem is the idle is fluctuating and when I start to drive the accelleration can be quite severe and even wheel spin. It is fine when driving at a speed but quite jumpy at low speeds. I am using the highest octane fuels from Shell or BP and have tried several lots of injector cleaner. Has anybody had similar problems? The local Mitsubishi garage says they need to change the injectors and I will need to take out a 2nd mortgage to pay for them!!!

there seems to have a vacuum leak somewhere. look for a broken or cracked hose. or look for a source of hissing sound.

when pressing the accelerator frum a stop , is it hard? Feel like its sticking? A dirty throttle body can cause an irratic idle. As previously stated a vacuum leak can cause an irratic idle also. One thing to check , the fuel pressure regulator. I have not seen many but i have seen sum , the diafram inside the fuel pressure regulator foes bad. There is a vacuum hose connected to the fuel pressure regulator to help regulate the fuel pressure on engine loads. The vacuum hose generally goes back to the intake. So if the diafram is bad , basically the engine will be sucking gas into the intake manifold frum the busted diafram of the fuel pressure regulator.

This can cause irratic idling and also the adrupt acceleration when leaving frum a stop. Its almost free flowing gas into the intake thru the pressure regulator , and when yu open that throttle to let in more air, and it will accelerate like no ones business.
