Just noticed yesterday that the guy I bought the car from had put single piston calipers on it...thus the reason I thought it stopped a little slow even with BRAND NEW BRAKES lol....so I want to get a brake kit...I have looked at the big companies like brembo ect but I see Baer has a kit for about $850 drilled and slotted rotors good pads and of course dual piston calipers. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also if I find used 2g calipers would it be just as good to use those and just get good pads and rotors?. I am really thinking about a brake kit though, cause I'm thinking one we get done tuning were going to see at least the 422whp we had before or more, and I would kinda like to be able to stop. It just sucks because the brakes are literally brand new just single piston calipers...any help would be great. Thanks again,

Savage.

Search "brake upgrades" I had a nice thread on this about a month ago. Some good info in there.

I just read in the other thread you pointed me to that you can use n/a 3000gt/stealth calipers...I just got off the phone with slowboy and they said that wont work? they recommend the baer kit. I was thinking maybe I could get out a little cheaper though :)

They are full of sh!t. If you were trying to sell $900 worth of parts to someone, would you tell them that they could get a nice 2 piston upgrade for a couple hundred? Hell no!

Anyway, they might have just been confused. The VR4 ones won't, but the non-turbo ones will. EMC might be able to hook you up with some.

Oh, and get some good pads, they help ALOT!

Pretty sure you can swap over just the caliper and run your stock rotors.

this is :offtopic: but it's nice to finally hear someone mod their car with safety in mind. brakes are one of the top safety priorities when trying to go faster. well done

so all I need is the calipers then?...the pads and rotors I have are brand new. I was pretty sure the rotors would need to be bigger though. In which case I would get bigger pads. But I could be mistaken

I just know you can use the NA 3000GT calipers. I don't know anything else. Pretty sure you need to use the 3/S brake line.

Rob would be able to point you in the direction of a link.

AND I'm pretty sure BRM has some knowledge as he was thinking about doing this.

I do have SS brake lines installed already :) I had read something about different brake fluid that works better??? What should I be looking for there? Thanks for the comment pwee...I know the aftermath of having speed without the suspension and brakes...I had a 300hp hyundai that I flipped 2 1/2 times into a bunch of trees (Don't buy a hyundai with plans to mod lol..) and I had someone with me. we are both ok now but we had lots of broken bones after it happened. The cop on the scene said he had never seen an accident as bad that did not kill everyone in the car. The piont is I almost died and could not work or drive for a long time. so for everyone modding their car make sure you can slow down/corner with whatever your car has for hp.

p.s. I rarely speed anymore, and as of last week my record is %100 clean. I also started doing 4cyl circle track racing to help with my street racing problem (still working on that)

Well, your going to have to get new pads because the single piston pads aren't the same as the 2 piston 3000 gt pads. At least, I'm pretty sure anyway. Just get some good non-metallic pads, so heat isn't transferred to the pad, and then caliper as easily. The fluid, go on SBR, the motul stuff is the best you can get. Standard fluid can't hold up to the heat of hardcore stopping. At the very least, make sure you get synthetic.

Just got the news today that the labor for the engine rebuild plus taking everything apart and putting it back together with new clutch ect will only be about $1600 as long as everything goes together as good as it came out, but don says it should. I thought that was a good deal...I was planning on like $3000 because he is throwing in a tune as well because of the new injectors and the fact that he wants to fix why it blew up last time. I'm getting exited  its going to be back together next week, I think don is going to be gone till the end of the following week though so I may have to wait till then so I dont screw anything up.

I was just going over some post and I've been assuming that 2g talons/eclipses have 2 piston calipers...did it come with single? If not I was going to try and find a 2g to steal the brakes off
