Hi,
new to this forum, still waiting for my 08 Spyder GT-V6... it's waiting for me at the dealership, i cant stand waiting anymore!!!...
Sunset Pearl + Terra Cotta interior, i should be OK, right? :)

my question is, i live in a relatively cold place in the winter (Alberta, Canada) and i'd like to take my skies with me to the mountains. As the back seats dont fold in the Spyder, i'm thinking of getting a trunk rack, or even a bike rack... I know it would probably look sh***y on the Eclipse, but that would only be for a couple times each winter... has anyone have any idea of where i can find one? I've seen lots of different models for BM's, Mazdas, but nothing for the Eclipse...

also, would that hurt the paint? i know they have rubber pads on them, but i also read that the Eclipse paint is fairly fragile...

Any suggestion would be more than appreciated! and just as a side note, i dont really need a car and even less a convertible, but just like some of you guys, i just fell in love with the Eclipse in that combination of Sunset Pearl and Terra Cotta... i hope i wont regret it!

:00000732: I know this might not be exactly what you were thinking but here is an idea. Get one of these and get a bike rack that is carried this way.

I dont know how well a trunk rack would work on a spyder since I dont own one (I dont know if it would interfere with the raising and lowering of the top), but if you remove it when you arent using it it shouldnt be a problem with your paint. I wouldnt say I would recommend leaving it there for an extended period of time though.

i picked up the rack yesterday, it seems to fit nicely on the trunk (even though the box doesnt fit IN the trunk :) )... i am not sure if i should take a chance and try to operate the top with the rack on the car... i have to take a closer look at the whole mechanism and see if it will interfere...
but as it is mostly for skies, i dont think i'll take the top down in the winter time!!
Thanks!

what brand / model rack did you get ? i want to get a bike rack for my car but everyone keeps telling me a trunk rack won't work. i have an '06 eclipse GT hard top..... i guess if i HAVE to get a hitch i can go that route, but i'd prefer to not go through all the hassle of mounting the hitch.

Hi,
i bought a Saris Bones 3-bike rack as shown on this link:

http://www.orsracksdirect.com/saris-bones-...rack-3-801.html

to be honest, i havent actually used it yet, but it seems to fit just great on the trunk only, and i've read on other forums (club4geclipse) that it works good.

The good thing about this one is that the bottom "legs" fit on the trunk and not on the bumper which is too soft...

Let me know which way you go, and if i do try mine anytime soon, i'll keep you posted!

Enjoy!
