works reduces throw by 25 percent and twm reduces by 30.... so twm will reduce height by 1.25 inches.. works a little less... up to you pretty much... oh and the works is ten bucks more and their bushings are 20 bucks more too... so total costs of both are...

twm.. 169$
works.. 198$

personally id go with the twm it would make it shorter and its cheaper...

I'm happy with the TWM. 5th gear is much less of a task.
Kinda concerned if a transmission problem develops. Then it will have to be removed for ease of dealership hassles. Easy for them to blame it on that...

My opinion is that this is in the wrong subforum and I'm moving it to Performance.

:offtopic: My opinion is the title of this thread is comic gold. That is all.

Is it possible for a short shifter to cause tranny problems? My Lancer is primarily for commute but don't get me wrong I have my fair share of fun. You all think its worth it?

:haha: Thanks for the FYI!!

Yes, a short shifter can cause problems. It can mess up your syncros and then you will start grinding gears.
As long as you get it linked up correctly you shouldnt' have a problem. I'm not too familiar with the manual of this as I have the auto, but I have had a short shifter on another car and thats what happened cause I was a dumbass.

Short shifter or OEM, both will wear out the syncros.

Short shifters just do a faster job of it. :nahrung034:

The way my tranny has been acting, I may end up switching back this weekend. I'd hate to see it go, but these are really worrying issues.

Yeah, I've been inside the engine bay and the console numerous times.
I just haven't been impressed by the build quality out of the factory in the Japan.

The problem seems to be more speed dependent than anything. Lower speed (sub-30kph) shifts into second don't mesh anywhere near as smooth as punching 'er a bit in the face. However, not always. I don't get why it feels like it's "popping" out of first, though. Nor why I get a clunk sound and feeling from the entire vehicle when I put it into first sometimes, and yes, I'm fully clutched in to the floor.

I have a feeling that sooner or later this transmission is going to explode in a cloud of metallic shavings. And, no, it's never reproduceable when I'm at my dealership. Maybe I'll try the other one across town sometime.. probably have to remove the shifter before hand because they'll just chalk it up to an "improper installation".

fuckit, i'll just pull it out this weekend.
