Problems folk: Pajero 2.8L owes me nothing - 525000 kms - reliable - never broken down.
Head gasket done 200k - leaking oil from hi press line up block therefore head gasket had to be replaced - head cleaned, crack check etc - turbo recond - no problem.
425K - clutch finally gave out 10k from home drove home and turned off key - decided get engine done, clutch etc. Wasn't burning excessive oil. Was burning though
Head not done - block rebuild - reconditioned - everything - was still burning oil - thought must be head, valve guides.
525K - oil consumption now 1l per 80 -100km - burning - no oil leak - nil, nilt oil leak. normal running was puffing blue smoke but go up hill and at night can see plumes of smoke. Brand new head, new valves, top end brand new - car running beautifully but still burning excessive oil - rang Mitsuibishi - no help there reckons can only be oil rings!! Yes - logically but no not that amount. No scoring og bore seen when head done, no leaking of petrol down past rings with static petrol test - with rattling old oil rings you could burn that much. Mechanic wants to pull engine and examine oil rings - I think barking up wrong tree.
Any clues - starts beautifully and has always - yes plume smoke whenever start!!! oil is getting in there somewhere.
Where else from - only other place - turbo and tappet cover breather - turbo was recond - perhaps missing something and is blowing throu turbo or blowing through breather into air intake. Never boiled, never over heated, never uses water ever. So clues - I just don't think that much oil can go past oil rings - something is being missed by those who should know!!!!!!
