Last week I turned my car into the mechanic shop to have my clutch master and slave replaced cuz they were broke and leaky, causing my clutch to not disengage. I got my car back same day and the clutch felt a little weird, smoother, but disengaged/reengaged at a higher height on the pedal. No biggie, I'll get used to it. Well, two days ago my clutch decided it wanted to be a pain in the ass again; I have to really stuff that pedal down to shift and HOPE my gears don't grind. What's the car's problem now? I don't see any leaks, the fluid reservoir is still topped off. I like my car, I don't like problems. Please help.

Thanks,

Garrett

If there was a major leak, and they repaired lines and what not, shouldn't they have bled the system? I don't know if it's just me, or if that sounds similar to the brakes not working when people redo brake lines...

Sometimes it is a small oversight, but usually gets caught in time, I would think... just go in and ask if they remembered to bleed the hydraulic system.

Whenever you work on the tranny you should always bleed the system.

Upon closer inspection it turns out that after the mechs installed the new master cylinder they left a kink in the hose that leads to the reservoir. I went to Autozone and bought 1 foot of new hose, but after popping the lid off of the reservoir and seeing how the fluid is turning gray (new master cylinder is jacked up, thanks mechs!) I decided to take it back to the shop and have them fix what they set up to fail.

rarely should you try to fix something a shop messes up. if you try to fix it, and fail, then they can say its yer fault that whatever broke and that they arent obligated to fix it. i suppose a good shop would take responsibility, but how many of those are still around???
