I’m always careful with my nuts, as I’m sure all you guys are. So how could this happen? Well, I let someone else handle my nuts, and I didn’t thoroughly inspect them afterward. So, if you let anyone mess with your nuts, be sure to check them afterward.

On the way home yesterday I thought something was completely falling apart in my front transaxle. First there was a clicking, and by the time I got home, at slow speed, almost a metal grinding noise. I could tell it was coming from the driver’s side.

I was really upset about the car, so I parked in the garage and jacked it. When I went for my nuts, I realized they were about the fall off. I could literally take them off with two fingers. Ouch!

I always torque my nuts to the factory specification, but I didn’t check them after I got a state inspection. They usually pull off at least one wheel in my state to inspect the brakes. Bastard… they’ll never put their hands on my nuts again!

HAHA!

I did that a while back I had the wheel off to do the timing belt and I just quickly hit the lugs with an impact gun 3 days later on on the highway I heard the clicking and then I got vibration... scared the shit out of me.

torque wrench FTMFW!

Glad to hear you got that problem with your nuts taken care of before they fell off . That would have been scary, especially on the highway! I always make sure and watch like a damn hawk whenever anyone's touching my nuts...

ahhh, this could go on forever...

Same thing happened to me. I'm still not sure if it was the inspection guys or the guys at Firestone, but I thought it was a ball joint going. Unfortunately for me, the nuts did fall off and so did my wheel. I've had most of the damage fixed and it was paid for, but I'd still rather not have had it happen to begin with.

I can’t imagine the agony of having your nuts fall off while flying down the highway. I’m sorry man…
