Hi everyone, my name is Rico from Rio Rancho, NM. I'm wondering If anyone can be of assistance, I'm looking for a good drop in air filter, HKS, K&N, or GREEN. Mechanic at work told me to get an amsoil drop in filter which has the best airflow and filtration in the market but they don't have it for the 08 Lancer. Looking foward to any info, thx a mil

I agree K&N all the way! I've always had them and been happy with how they last, and the quality. You have to contact K&N directly to get one, not out in stores here anyway.

You could always go with a WORKS drop in filter...but it is a bit more than the K&N.

Fail.

Works is a true drop-in filter. The K&N requires a special mounting bracket to make the filter sit properly in the airbox.

... Which means that K&N is just reusing a filter size from another make/model and using the bracket to make it fit our Lancers. That's pretty shameful.

+1 for Works. It's reuseable too, you just need to clean it.

I like works but r $$$$. I was also checking a HKS Hybrid filter. Check out amsoil filters at amsoil.com. Too bad they don't have for the Lancer

K&N has a million mile warranty. It is the "green" thing to do. Did you know that over 157 Million air filters are thrown away each year? By buying a K&N reusable filter, you can help save the enviroment. Go Green!!

....ok, so that was total BS, but they really do have a million mile warranty!!

Yes, because throwing away one less air filter will be more green than the thousands of gallons of fuel your car will consume.

You really want to go green? Stop driving!

well, i put the kn drop in air filter and, i can hear the difference in the air filter. Its alot louder. and second gear actually has a better pick up. Cheap mod to get more out of the car and wont void warranty.

Hello, i'm new to this forum and new owner of a 09 Lancer GTS. I've always had an SUV or a truck but with these recent gas prices I bought a Lancer. I'm interested in installing a CAI probably an Injen or a K&N but i live in Chicago and I keep hearing about how its bad in the snow and rain because of the probability of it sucking up water or cold air damaging it. I read through the forum but I can't find answers on to why and how to prevent this. Any reccomendations?

Keep searching in the forums, tri cai, injen cai or try projectlancer.net and search their forums. I know one guy her e at this forum site or project lancer site ran the cai behind his driver side fender to avoid that from happenning and he supplied great pics on removal and install of fender & cai
