*Edit;; 4G37 to 4G63T Swap (user error)*

Hey Mitsu forums

I bought a 94 eclipse about a year ago in bad shape but have never had the money to actually start restoring this beautiful car. Just within the past few months i've been able to start restoring the body/engine of the car and it's in the best condition it's seen since its previous owner. So my question to you is this.. Later on down the line after my body is restored and the miles have been made would swapping for a 4G63T be possible? Also are there any hard modifications to make?

Thanks for the help guys!

i'm a little confused on this one. from your title, are you under the impression that your engine isn't a 4g63 already? because it is.

Thank you!

Well, when i open up my hood I see "4G73" printed on the block.

I believe that the previous owner did a rebuild of the engine. Could this cause the confusion?

He has a 4G37. It is the 1.8L. And to answer your question, yes it IS possible, but you will have to have custom motor mounts fabbed up and run a whole new wiring harness, etc.. If you have a shitload of money and time on your hands, then go for it, otherwise, it isn't worth it. Besides, like me, you will grow to love your 1.8. Check here for some info on getting a little more umph out of your 4G37. Happy tuning! :D

Cool! It's nice to get some good information on the transition and I def don't have a lot money to dump down lol. I was actually just checking out that stickey for tuning the 1.8L it really helps out in my decision (and on gas mileage :P).

Oh just to ask

Is it only the Tubro varient of the 4G63 that requires major modifications to fit inside my bay or does that include the NA as well?

4g63 turbo and non turbo use the same block, crank, etc. the only major difference are the pistons

Cool thanks for the clarification. A couple different websites were saying differently. At this point I just have to gather whether my engine is in the best shape it can get before I start modding.
