It is listed in the owner's manual. I don't own a 2g, so I wouldn't know, but I ma sure someone will chime in eventually.

I use Champion psf. Says "Meets service requirements of GM, Chrystler, Ford, Honda, and most other foreign makes" on the back. They're everywhere. Heres what the bottle looks like.

Honestly, any power steering fluid will work.
As for using ATF (automatic transmision fluid), you can use it, but I wouldn't.
ATF and PSF have different detergent packages.
Let me make this point..... People always like to say, use ATF for power steering systems. BUT, do you ever hear anybody say, use PSF for ATF? I don't think so.
Just use regular PSF. You will be fine.

My owners manual says to use dexron II atf. I personally use PSF but that's what it calls for.

Drives: 1996 Talon AWD. Built, but no longer drives: 1997 mitsubishi eclipse RS; 1990 Talon AWD; 1995 Talon AWD, 1997 Talon AWD. Seems like a pattern

I've used brake fluid, but that was in a pinch and I wouldn't recommend it.

It's kinda like antifreeze, You "could" in theory use anything you want. The only problem is unless your whole rack is dry you're going to be mixing stuff with different viscositys together. And if you use a glycol based brake fluid it would be hygroscopic (it will absorb water and lather up with air). This might give your steering a spongy feeling. But it'll be alot less spongy than a line filled with air. Just stick with the PSF. I've used it in mine for a while now and it gave me no problems.
