I would say illegal for both.... check with your local police. However even if its legal for you another county might be different.

It is legal in most states. If its not, most cops dont pull you over for tinted lights.
I did my tail lights and i havnt been messed with. You can get a spray called NightShade on the internet. Thats what i used, works good.

My step dad is the Police Chief in the town i used to live in and he said as long as your taillights don't project any other color than red or orange, then your fine.... and obviously as long as you can still see your lights..... I had mine done at at local bodyshop all that they did was scuff them up with a scotchbrite pad and then mixed some black with clear and spryed them and let them bake...... It cost me like 30 dollars..... Good luck if you do it post some pics mine are on here somewhere..... :57:

This stuff looks good at first, but then looks like crap after a year or so. I did this on my old Supra, and after about a year, it started to peel and discolor.

This is the best way.

I used vinyl, but Greyso's method looks best and lasts the longest.

If that's the case, then it's determined what county the car is registered in. Some counties in Chicago do not require front license plates or city stickers. If you do get pulled over and ticketed, you just go to court and show proof of registration.

They throw the ticket out and make an update to your vehicle's license plate record so you don't get pulled over for the same offense again.
