I'll be taking my car tomorrow to the "Beat The Heat" which is basically an event were we race against cops at a 1/8th mile.

I'm not expecting a great time, as my car is running rich and needs to be tuned but I want to see what time I can put out. Any advice from regular track runners? ( can be before going on track and or during ). This will be my first time at a track, so hopefully everything goes smooth.

So I had a peek at what I was going up against, and 2 things have me worried lol.

1) These cop cars are basically built for dragging. These aren't your average ford cop cars. So I'm kind of wanting to back out lol, especially since my car looks fugly and will end up with a time just like it.

2) Scared of blowing the engine or something. I don't want to find myself not giving it everything it has due to me scared of breaking something cause that car is so fun to drive. :(

If I back out now, I can't do this event until next year ( assuming they're still open cause they might have to close due to someone buying the land ).

Sucks being a pansy lol :(

whats the point of racing a cop car if they arent really cop cars? id rather race a normal cruiser than a drag car dressed up to look like a cruiser. -_-

EDIT: because i could actually beat a normal cruiser.

Lower the tire pressure to 20 Rev and slip the clutch at right below or at the point you make boost. (2800 - 3500 RPM) And never let your right foot off the floor for the run.

Also move your passenger seat as forward as you can.

Take useless crap out of your car. run with slightly less then half a tank of gas.

Well, the race on Saturday was a blast for me. Raced twice, won the first time, and lost the second time.

Heres a video of my second race against my friends 5.0 Mustang.
(IMG:http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b292/deliciouse4iz2c/th_HPIM6821.jpg)

For anyone who's been keeping up on my threads, you can almost hear how I fuel cut in every gear. Once I get up to 5k (sometimes less), I'm forced to shift to the next gear, and once I get around the same RPM on that gear, I have to shift again, ect. So that killed my time pretty bad. I'd post a slip, but for some reason I can't access the members garage :(

Other then that it was pretty friggen fun, I enjoyed it like crazy. I was also the only DSM there lol. (they told me that was the first DSM they seen in months)

Well, you had a god time wich is very important, and that was a mustang 5.0, so it has a bigger engine, more power and it has probably a lot of mods, good for you
btw I can't acces to the members garage either anybody knows what is going on with that? (sorry i know is totally off topic)

I have no logger, but I'm planning on getting DSM link ASAP (unless I should get AEM wideband first or something else)

I'll make a thread tonight when I get home.

DSMLink will help you tune, the wideband will help you monitor. it's good to use them together
