Never heard of anybody's peeling, but the clear and colour coats are thin. Scratches and chips/pits/sandblasting is something that will inevitably occur.

I don't think it's something that's limited to Mitsubishi. I've been hearing that other manufacturers are doing the same thing with their paint (calling it more "ecofriendly" *laugh*). I'm told Honda has gone that route, and that people on forums are bitching and moaning about it too. I don't personally care to visit a Honda forum, so somebody else can do the math on that if they feel so inclined.

lol.. let me tell you of story... **sits down in chair and kids circle around**

I was washing my car. It was geting clean. I rinsed off the soap suds on the car.
Dropped the hose onto the ground. Hose misses the ground and hits my side skirt. Now i have a white chip in my side skirt and a little non-noticeable scratch that you can't see from far away.

Even though the hose had a metal tip, droping it from 3 feet cant be enough to chip anything. I guess only lancers :(

+1

The clear coat on this car is horrendeous. If I knew about this earlier, I would have told them that I would not take the car unless they threw in an extra layer of clear coat for free.

...

Oh wait, they had that... the paint protection program. NUTS! Screwed again!

I got the paint protection program becuase I live here in Canada and our winters are ridiculous. And you know what I've noticed? everything lol The paint protection didn't do a damn thing My fender is all chipped and side skirts, even my hood is covered in scratches. And guess what my dealership did for me?? absolutly nothing, they told me I would have to pay another 350$ to get the 3M clear bra put on. But oh wait it gets better. Before I do that they recomend that I have the car touched up for 300$ because it is electric blue and such an exotic colour so its so bloody expensive. So basically I paid an extra 800$ for the paint protection for absolutly nothing. What is my dealership good for lol

If the paint protection you got was the TST that is for protecting against sunlight, harsh chems, etc. Not rock chips. The only paint protection against chips like this is the 3M clear bra.
