Hello. This is my first post but I'll get straight to the point. I have a 2000 Eclipse GT and the engine has been running really HOT lately. I recently had the O2 bank one sensor 2 replaced but this did not correct the issue. (This was replace due to engine code.) Anyway, I did notice that when the fan kicks on and I stand in front of the car while it's running, I feel the fan blowing OUT. Could the fan direction somehow been reversed? Is there an easy way to fix this?

maybe switch wires around?...... or check the relay?..... check relay first and then consult mechanic or somone who knows what they're talking about and doing.

ever bother checking the coolant level and condition? Make sure both fans turn on, the a/c and the regular. Otherwise you don't have enough air movement if one is dead.

Yes, I have checked the coolant and the level is where it should be. AND it has been changed regularly...Also, both fans do come on. I'm just nervous taking it back to the shop for this reason: Two months ago the check engine light came on, dealer pulled code and it was "cylinder 1 misfire"...they pulled the intake and found the tube seals were leaking oil onto the spark plugs and wires were arking to valve cover gasket. They replaced the valve cover gasket, tubeseals, plugs and wires. They said that was probably why the temp was running high...BUT I still have the same problem and when I was there for the O2 sensor they tried to tell me the valve cover and the tube seals are leaking and it would be another $1000 to fix!!! This mechanic told me this isn't the same work that was done two months ago...it sure seems like it to me and I told him not to do it...Would they replace all tube seals or just the ones affected?? Sorry this is so long but I am just so frustrated and just want to make sure I know what I'm talking about when I go back...Any help would be greatly appreciated...

I had no intention to make you sound dumb or anything, just giving a suggestion. Check to see if you have an air pocket in the cooling system. You did say you had the coolant changed. Did this happen afterwards?

Ok first off 90% of the time when the computer says the O2 sensor is messed up its usually not, second if you want to just take the thermostat out of your water pump and you should have no problems with over heating after that and its also easy enough to do yourself :D

thats a good point too, the best way to get air pockets out is to turn your car on and take the radiator cap off usually while the car starts to heat up it pushes the air pockets out and you just pour more radiator fluid in and any problem with air should be solved...........as long as your thermostat opens

rev ur engine if it doesnt cool while neutral, if it doesnt cool, then check ur water pump, thermostat, and coolant. Completely flush if water pump and thermostat are working, if u rev and it cools, its WATER PUMP not working properly

Thanks for the ideas...I'll try anything at this point! The issue happened well after the coolant was flushed, but it's still worth a look...I was kind of suspicious of the O2 sensor thing but I did notice a BIG difference in how the car was running and accelerating. You've been very helpful and I'll give these things a try...I'll update...thanks again
