on that vr4 i put a fmic on it.. aftermarket blowoff and boost controllers. all kinds of fun stuff going on. The problem is that big arse emissions control unit thingamajiger. Think thats the technical term. Lol. I have dealt with many turboed cars b4.. but i think that module is couasing loss of power. I want to remove it and was wondering if anyone has experience and can give some tips. Didnt know if i would have to reflash the ecu.. or anything like that. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

98's and 99 are a pain in the ass to get a FMIC to work on due to the huge charcoal canister. You can try and remove it and plug off the lines. I'm not sure if it will cause a check engine light though. They are very finicky with that.

ya i got the fmic on there by relocating the "charcoal canister" into the pass front quarter under the core crosmember  . works fine.. no light at all, and no vacuum leaks so i guess its all good. the fmic has been on there for a few months now. works great. but i know all that vacuum shit has to be eating up horsepower, want to get rid of it. didnt know if anyone had ever removed it totally.

It is just there to capture fumes coming from the gas tank. No performance gains by removing it. Only real reason people remove it is for more room in the engine bay. It's not worth doing it on a 98 or 99 model though as it will most likely cause a check engine light.
