Welcome.
Lets try for some more info.
What trim is it? RS, GS, GS-T, GSX?
I take it this is an automatic? What makes you think you put it into "limp mode"? That usually denotes an issue with the transmission.
Start by doing the usuall preventive maintinence things, oil change, plugs, plug wires, air filter, throttle body cleaning (IMO the best way to clean it, is to remove it, and use sensor safe carb clean, you will need a new throttle body gasket), check all vacumm lines, etc.
Next, I might go to a muffler shop, and have them check the exhaust system. I would also get a fuel pressure guage, and check the fuel pressure (or have a shop do it).
Our cars need to have the timing belt changed every 60,000 miles, unless the previous owner changed it, or has documentation showing that is was changed, I would have the timing belt, both pulleys, the tensioner, and water pump changed.
Try some of that stuff, and see if that helps.

Might of skipped a tooth on your timing when you made her scream. That will cause the backfiring and the running like crap. Check the marks and see if they still line up.

+1 for the timing. I totally forgot about that.
SInce it is a manual, you don't have to worry about "limp mode". Limp mode is ONLY for automatics.

You're an idiot. Plain and simple. Sell the car to someone with a little more respect. It's people like you that are making these cars disappear.

Ok, let me just say this. There is absolutely NO reason you should EVER rev your motor to 8k unless you are on the track and you have LOADS of mods. The factory redline is like 7.5 somewhere areound there, so if you reved it to 8k, then you probably fucked something up.

I must have missed the "reving to 8K" part some where.
uhhhh...... yeah.... That was universally fucking STUPID.
Smell your engine oil. If it smells like a burnt ass sewer..... I think you can figure it out from there.

Just because you can work on cars doesn't mean you can drive them.

Besides, you were still TRYING to do a "burn out"......which is pretty stupid.

welcome to the mitsu forums lol, but def check timing, and u might have to replace the belt because if u did jump it, you may have stretched the belt, so replace it if need be.

congratulations, but now you own a mitsu so if you want a car to spank on and beat up, get another honda.

and the person who told you it had a "swap" is retarded. people don't swap engines around in n/t eclipses, just the turbo models.

Just for a heads up, the people on this forum get touchy when people do stupid things off the track............like 8k burnouts. We prefer to treat things with respect and put safety first
