i'd suggest buying a 240sx or something that's already RWD. It will save alot of headaches.
If your dead set on making a RWD 3kgt, the easiest way is to get a VR-4 (AWD) and "Modify" (aka, weld) the drivetrain so that only the rear wheels are driven. Unless your an experienced fabricator, making your FWD 3k into RWD is probably out of your skill level and budget. You'd need to basically custom build a drivetrain.
There have been RWD 3000gts, but as far as i know, all started life as VR-4s. I know of 2 that use small-block V8s and one that uses the original engine, mounted longitudinally, mated to a custom tranny (turbo400 i think) and rear end. I dont know how seriously you are looking into this, but one of the guys is on 3si.org, and his name is vr-440. He's the guy to answer your questions.

QUOTE(suprafast7 @ Sep 29 2008, 12:50 PM) I want to use my 3000gt for drifting events.
I'm going to be completely blunt, and not because I don't like seeing people be creative and do something different. Building a 3000GT/Stealth/GTO for drifting is as dumb a thing you could do to a car, besides putting pimp shocks in their, bouncing the car up the street. I can only assume you've never owned one of these cars, because if you had, you'd understand that they are way too heavy and even with smaller turbo's, are not as responsive power wise as many other cars. Please do not do this. I'm not saying it can't be done, it's just a silly idea. :)

Actually, it started out as a vr4. It was wrecked in the front when he bought it.

i kind of agree. It's like stripping the interior out of a Bentley Continental GT and turning it into a drag car. It will be unique, and probably pretty quick, but untimately a huge waste of money, you'll ruin the car's purpose, and still wont be as quick as all the supercharged fox-bodys. The problem is that the 3/s was designed as a grand tourer. Luxurious, heavy, and very stable. but if your still gonna do it, i'm with EMC. Keep us posted with the pics!

My bad. There is someone out there that did a RWD conversion to a base. Even had a website and everything.
