Ok..... On the last two oil changes. I've noticed somthing weird. My eclipse takes 4 quarts of oil. Yet 3,000 miles later when its due for an oil change. Only half of that drains out. My car does not burn oil because i've checked thoroughly. I've looked at the plugs, checked all sides of the engine and nothing. My drain plug doesn't leak and i have no blow back on the undercarrige. Any ideas before i try somthing stupid or needless?

P.S. During winter time i use 10W-30. During the summer i use 10W-40.....

Before you drain the oil, did you check the level? was it low? after you drained it did you check it? was there still something on the dipstick?

so after you "drained" the oil and checked it said it was full? man if thats the case you have a freaking gold mine. Oil producing car FTW! heh. I think you mean to say you checked it after you filled it. In that case if its full after you fill it drive it for a week and recheck the level. If its low and you don't see stains on the driveway or where ever you park its safe to assume shes drinking it. (burning it).

also check your intake tubing for oil residue there are two oil lines for your intake that come off of your valve cover, on goes into your intake pipping the other goes into your intake manifold, just run your finger inside the two on the bottom and if you have oil residue then your looking at an oil pressure issue. might be a leaky cylinder ring.

When you change your oil filter do you fill the filter before putting it on the car? If you don't as soon as you start your car and the filter fills up you will be a little low right from the start. It also gives your engine a "dry" start where you are basically starving your engine of oil until it fills up.

it means she burns two quarts. its acceptable on a high mileage engine. Nothin you can do about it unless you change the motor.
