Hey guys,

First post for me, just bought a 95 Mitsi Diamante 2.5 SE a couple a weeks ago, with 215000kms on the clock, didnt trust it too much as alot of people have told me about there transmissions(F4A51) backing up on them, anyway this one has been rebuilt in the past so i wasnt worried up until lastweek the TCL off light on the dash starting flashing, thought nothing of it until I put my foot down, the trans wouldnt kick down from 4th or 5th it just stays in those gears. Pull over, turn the car off for a couple of mins, restart and its good to go again....give the car any death and the light comes back, startin off 1st-2nd ok 2nd-3rd very very slow 3rd-4th pretty much doesnt happen unless you use tip-tronic, once in 4th put the car back in drive it will stay in that gear this is while the light is flashing. Any ideas would be appreciated. cheers

P.S Tip-tronic works fine while light flashes.

Firstlly yur model i am pretty sure does not have the F4A51 , that trans debuted in mid 95 for the 96 up models.

Yes while using TIPTRONIC , which is part of INVECS , the INVECS controls will over ride the traction and auto commands made by the TCM. The traction light flashing usually means a there is a traction issue as in unequal wheel speeds. During this time the ECM will drop engine performance and TCM shifting commands will be halted as not to permit up or downshifts.

If it is a constant issue where the light is flashing yu may wanna have the system checked out. Could be a speed sensing issue.
