Is it safe to use PB Blaster to clean my throttle body?

No offense but to be completely honest I don't care if it's better to use carburetor cleaner yada yada... I just want to know if this is safe. I have a full can, and I want to make use of it. I've probably got about a quarter inch of carbon and gunk caked onto my throttle body.

pb blaster does work as a good solvent, it will make a huge mess though so take your tb off if you plan to use that to clean it

btw if you have an extra styrofoam laying around that you want to get rid of pb blaster will melt the hell out of it

Yeah lol, the can say's it'll melt a cup into a puddle.

I was gonna remove the throttle body anyway this way I can completely clean the inside of it and everything.

I'm having a bit of a hard time finding a good tutorial for going about doing this though. I'm gonna have to go with my Haynes manual!

Well I'd love to but the goddamn air intake hose is stuck to the throttle body! It just won't come off!

Probably somewhere, I'll look.

I hate to break it to you but I really yanked and wrenched this thing hard and it just wouldn't budge. Wouldn't even show a sign that I loosened the clamp on it.

take the clamp completely off, it might be tightening back up on the lip of the elbow when you try to slide it

Alright I'll try that.

Be right back, LOL.

If it works, I'll grab my video camera and start-a-filmin.

if thta doesn't work take a small screw driver and slide it under the coupler. slowly work around the coupler to try and work it loose. then smack it inward with the mallet and that should break it free.

Allright I found a solution. I yanked as hard as I can. It made a cartoonish popping noise as it disconnected. LOL!

So, I JUST FINISHED cleaning 120k miles worth of engine waste off of the inside of that throttle body. There's a few little specs left in the corners I couldn't get to, but I think I did an amazing job.

I didn't do video, but I got pics. I'll make a new thread with the instructions!

when yo get a hose like that, that wont come off, I usually just take off the clamp completely and then put pliers on the end and turn back and forth. It usually ALWAYS breaks free.
