I hear (no pun intended) that Magnaflow sounds pretty good, and the Cherry Bombs aren't bad.
Honestly, I don't know.

Magnaflow, Flowmaster, basically if it's made in America it dosen't sound like a fart can.

I heard a 2g eclipse drive by earlier this morning and he happened to park in the lot I was in so I asked him what exhaust he was running and he said it was made by Megan. Sounded pretty sweet imo.

If you have a 2.5 - 2 in exhaust system a cherry bomb won't be overly loud.
EDIT: plus they're only like 20 bucks

Well the thing is that everyone has different tastes. Some will inevitably like a louder more free flowing exhaust, and others will like a much quieter deeper sounding exhaust. My advice to you is too either listen to the clips on youtube, or to look around, if you see an eclipse that sounds good (to you) ask the driver what he has hanging underneath it. Theyll tell you every time, they love to brag  Personally I like the sound of the magnaflow street series the best. it's quiet when your easy on the gas, but opens right up when you crack the throttle. It has a deep, sound that isn't throaty, and not too loud. Heres a link to what I'm talking about. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEY5Lze-n2o

High-flow is best for any app imo.

EDIT: And, if it is a good cat and a good muffler, then no it will not sound raspy, but it will def be a little louder.
