Hello,
I have my Diamante here in Germany (2001, 3.5L). I need an oil filter. I have been trying to find one I can purchase locally instead of shipping from the USA. I see there is 2 filter options for the 3.5L engine. The MZ690072 for the Diamante, and the MZ690116 for the Montero. I see people do seem to interchange them, however I have not seen someone doing it on a Diamante. The difference is one is short/fat, the other is tall/skinny. If the USA Montero filter works on the USA Diamante it would be most excellent because then I can use a European Pajero III filter on my car (the engine is the same in Europe- 6G74)
Thanks,
Steve

If you look where the filter goes in, does it look like a tall skinny one would fit into there ? Probably not, and that is why it is short and fat, due to the limited space. You could buy one and try it out, since it is only a few bucks (oh, with the exchange rate probably about $10) or perhaps the auto parts store can match up the old filter if you bring it in, with one from another car that has the same thread pattern and size, otherwise you're probably going to have to have some shipped over.
