My 1994 diamante ls is cutting out when i am first taking off and when going up hills. This car has 217k on it and i replaced the motor about 12k ago with a 2.5l from japan. Everything was working fine until about 1k ago and now it hesitates all the time. I have checked the plugs and they look ok. I have checked the wires and they appear to be ok, they have about 65k on them. I have tested all three coil packs and they test out on an ohm meter as fine. After changing out each coil pack, i would test drive the car and it would seem to run better for about 5 minutes then it would return back to not running right. Anyone with any ideas please jump in there and lets see if we can fix this thing. thanks.

do you know if the car has the idle speed controller (ISC)
somewhere around the throttle body ..if you find it is faulty
replace that unit

have a look at this link for more information about the intake

ok, from what i can find, this diamante does not have a idle speed controller, it is a factory setting. i could be wrong though, because i do not know what one looks like but that is what a repair manual said. any ideas what else could be causing this ? thanks

Hey there dude, I have a 95 diamante x25 and had the same exact problems with my car. It was indeed the ISC (stepper) motor that was stuffed. I got a new one and its back to normal now but do beware that you have to get the same ISC motor as there is several different ones for mitsubishi so take in your one if indeed you car has one!!

Good luck
