Just got first oil change on 09 lancer gts, shortly after noticed a much deeper exhaust tone starting at about 2700 rpm during heavy acceleration is this normal. Still has factory exhaust which I thought are usually designed to be fairly quiet. Any help?

An oil change wouldn't affect your exhaust tone. Where did you get your oil changed?

If you say Walmart then I wouldn't be surprised if they punched a hole in your muffler by accident lol...

LMAO.... yeah I don't see any reason that it would change the tone. Oil has nothing to do with how your car sounds in that respect. Have you done anything else like filters?

It could if the engine has way too much (or to little) oil ;)

Hey!!! this happened to me too!!!! I noticed after I got my oil change done at jiffy lube, I noticed the ehaust was way deeper. So then I took it back to Jiffy lube and told them to go through the oil change again to make sure everything was right, I even ispected it myself and everything was normal, the way it was supposed to be. Yeah the exhaust is way deeper!, it sounds like I have a serious muffler tip, it makes a deeper noise around 2000 to 3000 rpm. weird right?

Yeah this is 100% real!!!! I thought it was only my car, but I guess not, I don't know I've come to realize Mitsubishi really failed at producing a good 4-cylinder automatic. Everything else is cool, it's just that 4b11 engine and cvt, why not just drop in a 5-speed automatic. Sometimes I really hate my lancer and kill myself for not getting the Mazda 3, but then sometimes it's handling, and sound system make it all better. I plan to keep this car for 20 years so it better last, with this economy, who knows if I can ever buy a car again. Sorry for getting soo off topic lol

If this was the case, he'd notice a lot more than just a different exhaust tone.

My car is making a horrendous noise(almost sounds like a Honda) after I added 7 quarts of 20W-40 and a pinch of sand for texture. Any suggestions? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laughing.gif)
