haven't heard of the CVT's having a limiter down here in Australia? Is it lmiting in neutral or when your driving? I know some cars limit the rpm when its cold and also when it is in neutral. You sure your foots flat to the ground? lOl I got a m/t and it happily spins to the red zone.

M/T has a rev limiter while driving, not sure about while in neutral. It kicks in about 6500-7000 rpm (redline). I've hit it a few times while driving. Never tried in neutral. Redlining or above in neutral and your just asking for trouble.
Limiter is good... saved me a few times when passing a car and not paying attention to what gear I was in or when down shifting too low.

I can't believe I missed this topic while I was gone!

+1 Aconns.... I don't believe in global warming but I do believe that reving while in park/neutral means you are a douche and lets face it... its what ricers do.

That limit is there to protect you and others... lets keep in that way

It makes sense that a CVT won't let you rev past a certain point while you're in park or neutral.

Does it do that while you're in gear or driving? Cause it shouldn't do it then.
How many kilometers you got on the car?

I rev my M/T sometimes while waiting at the lights too, I get bored.
But I never rev it higher than 4k anyway, and even when drag racing I don't rev higher than 2.5k before liftoff - there's just no need for it.

I got a 08 CVT, but I live in NY and my tops at I think 6500rpm, I'm not really sure. and you said your at 4000rpm red line, then there some thing wrong. I red line like 2 times and that when I first got it and that was a year ago and the other time I was seeing how fast I can go. I got it up around 125mph befor a dam a$$ cut me off :excl:
