Hi All

Just bought a 2005 Shogun elegance yesterday, really pleased with it.......my first automatic vehicle!

I live in northern ireland, when the sat nav comes on it only shows two roads, now i know i live in a small country, but we do have more than two roads :)

How can i update the map on this, when it starts up , the display says NUVI before it comes on, i have no instruction manual etc etc............i have also discovered that there is a unit to insert a disc just below the glove box at the passenger foot well.....is this connected??

It all seems to work, just needs updated

Last question, suppose it would be impossible to play dvd s on this thing??

Sorry for the barrage of questions!!

Thanks

Darryl :amen:

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/00000732.gif) i am just new to this forum, but here is what i know,to date on 13th.June 2009. I purchased my first shogun elegance 5 door auto,2005 model a week previous to myself joining this forum. i inserted the disc into the dvd player and shut the lid. from what i have read, this is only for your satelite navigation by navteq. on using the control, which is a handset, just like the tv handset, i powered it on. from there i had to gow into settings and do my own personal settings, like use the motorway, take the shortest route etc. i then set the map down to 1/32nd, for this is as far as it goes down. the only problem i found,is that its not like your other satnavs, which show you the side street names, this does,nt, but only shows the street your on. i telephoned the dealer in stirling, but they are as thick as two short planks. i contacted navteq for information on what is on the 2004 dvd disc and what is the difference on the new dvd disc for 11/2008. he could only tell me, that mitsubishi ask navteq for certain items to be put on the dvd and he could not tell me what was on the 11/2008 dvd,but to contact the dealer. I am still waiting for a reply from them. to inform you of the price of the new dvd 11/2008,this is £300 includes vat. i was lucky yesterday, there was a new one for sale on ebay for the diamond model, which is £400,but got it for £195. so i hope you have your dvd which is dual laired for creating a backup copy in case of scratches. if you need any firther information, i will help as i get it.

To answer the first posterThis to my knowledge, the disc tray for the Navigation disc does need a disc or else it will not be able to pull up a map of yur area. ALso there are update discs for each year. As for my own car which is older that i update my discs because the new discs will have newer streets. Altho sum discs still miss sum older streets and side roads. I kno this as because my own disc does not show my road that i live on altho it has been her longer than the 2 later side roads added, i have the latest disc .
