I did some searching on this topic first and couldn't find anything.
I was running through the gears the other day in my wife's car and it seemed like the rev-limiter kicked in before I hit redline. Has anyone experienced this? Other manuals I have driven don't usually hit the rev limiter until 500 rpm past redline. Where do you guys shift at with manual trannies? What Rpm does our rev limiter kick in? Can the rev limiter be increased?
Thanks

mine kicks in about 200 before red line, its kind of annoying, because ill go to push it to redline and it kicks in just a hair early.. if there is any way to increase, id love to know lol

Nah, that's just the difference between ECU programming and the manufacturers safety net. It's a waste of time to pass the peak HP mark anyway.

It unfortunately isn't very consistent, at least not in my car.
Also seems to vary on the gear the car is in, and on the speed or how fast the engine is revved.

I had instances where it kicks in before or right on the red line.
I also had an instance where it would bounce up and down about 500 rpm from red line to below (sometimes it just cuts off, but one time it was acting a bit different).

I guess that might be something based on the mileage too. I know some vehicles are programmed to only let you do certain things (as in push the car only so far) before you reach a point where the car is "worked in".

Blah blah blah...
