I'm trying to change my transmission oil and I can't find where to drain the fluid. I've searched all over under the car and for the life of me can't locate any screw.

oil can get hot eneough to burn skin

undo all the tranny pan screws :)
leave on screw in so pan oil drains carefully on an angle
then with care remove the pan completly

refit new pan gasket and filter
Refill tranny at the dipstick tube

The drain screw is going to be on the right lower side of the transmission. Refer to the Diamante / Magna section for servicing this transmission. There are posted schematics. Where the driver side CV shaft (driver side USA) under it in the transmission housing will be the drain screw. The main transmission filter is not serviceable , wether the transmission be an F4A42 for the 4CYL engine or the F4A51 for the V6. Most 99 to some 00 and 01 models have a serviceable secondary external screw on transmission filter , which is located on top of the transmission adjacent frum the transmission park neutral safety switch.

Yu can refer to the Diamamte and Magna Verda section for transmission servicing. Fluid should be checked while warm and in park . Vehicle running while checking fluid in Mitsubishi transmission mostly will give false overfill readings. Check the unit with the engine warm and vehicle engine off.

have yu serviced the screw on filter? Yurs should have one. Also a good things while draining the fluid is to drain it and if yu have an extra 1-2 quarts , when its done draining , Pour in the 2 quarts and start up for 15 seconds and then let sit for half a minute and then re open the drain.

As stated , on 96-00 models and sum 01 models F4A41,F4A42,F4A51,F4A52 and other models in these series have an internal main transmission filter that is not servicable unless the transmission is dissasembled , so there also was an external screw on transmission filter located on top of the transmission on these models , late 2000 and 2001 up models of these transmission no longer have the external screw on transmission filter. This drain and flush method helps to loosen sum of the extra buil up that may be on the non servicable internal filter on all models.
