Hi, new to the forum.

My daughter has a 96 Eclipse that needs a motor, it's got a 2.0 non turbo.

Having a hard time finding a 96, is there any other year that'll fit in it without much modification?

Thanks!

OK, I did a search on a fairly local junk yards website & it shows a 95 Sebring 2.0 as a replacement.
This true?

I was waiting for somebody to mention the Avenger.
From what I hear, you can also use a Dodge Neon engine, but there is bunch of fabrication involed, not to mention a bunch of other junk.

I have to mention the Avengers because that is what I am running in my car. If you can do major engine work or if you get extremely lucky and find the right Neon you can use an engine out of one. I knew I should have bought that DOHC neon with the intake in the back and the exhaust up front.

I got my engine for $50.Yea it came out of a car with 206k miles on it but after getting it home it looked like it was rebuilt. The only problems I have had with it was it blew a head gasket and it needed new valve seals.

I think a "pick-n-pull" place usually charges $100 - $200 for short block.
I can get one for $150. My only problm is, I have nowhere to work on major stuff like that, or I would allready be building my motor.
Damn I need a garage. :(

Yes I did get it from a u-pull it place. They were having a sale for $45 engines and with the cost to get in and tax it ended up being $50. The place I got mine from has since upped the price to $65 when they have a sale but if you get an engine like the one I did that needed nothing to be put in the car its still cheaper. Its just a hit and miss and they don't guarantee anything. You could pull one get it home and have it be complete junk. Early next year I hope to see if I can get another one to rebuild for power.

Yea its harrys u-pull it. The different locations have different prices when they have sales for some reason. Why you got a flyer for the Pennsburg location is beyond me. The Hazelton location had them this month for $75, Allentown was $65 with a $25 core and Pennsburg was/is $85. It costs $2 to get it and our tax is 6%. Personally, for our cars (I get my parts out of an avenger since 2g Eclipse/talons are rare in these places), the Allentown location is the easiest to get access to the parts you want especially if you are pulling an engine or something big like that.

When you get an engine from them you get the long block. No accessories, manifolds or clutch (if applicable). Yes it sounds to good to be true because they don't guarantee what you pull out, you have to pull the parts you want out of the car and just because you show up doesn't mean they are going to have what you want and they don't keep an inventory. As I said in a previous post you might get a good one or you might get a piece of junk. Its a hit and miss thing unless you know what to look for before you pull it or in the case of an engine or trans you are willing to rebuild it.

It sounds to good to be true but I have saved a lot of money going there instead of a different junkyard.
