Hey all! My 09 Lancer hit the 6,000 klicks and with every week it rattles more and more. Even when i play certain types of music at volume 30 and bass set to 3

Did any one attempted to fix the problem?
from my observations rattle comes from that pocket in the door, where it's so flexible and just resonates with music. Also i believe the speaker grill rattles alot since it's not that rigid either.

Any suggestions on how to make it more rigid?

Yea, dynamat.. there are a lot of things that rattle in the car.
The whole trunk does.
The door panels do, they trim panels on the door panels do. It gets worse and worse.

I'm starting to put money away for lots and lots of dynamat and gonna do the entire car sometime within the next 2 years, it's f*cking annoying.

Be very careful going with the cheaper stuff. A lot of it is asphault based and is proned to have problems. The following article is all about the short comings of the cheap stuff:

I'd say try and find the rattles first and see if you can't tighten something or put a piece of felt there. Otherwise I'd suggest you get a quality deadener and do the car in sections as you can afford it. Hope this gets rid of those rattles.

I know this post is over a year old but i have some decent ideas. I to noticed the trunk vibrated when a good system was installed in my lancer. I went to the local hardware store and bought some expanding foam for doors and windows. then popping off the the trunk interior piece. take some wide scotch tape and tape off all holes only leaving small cracks to insert cans nossel. then fill it up. i used 3 large cans but could of used one more. it adds a lot of mass to the area and thus eliminating most of the vibration. i still notice that my wing vibrates so im going to foam it up soon to.
I also removed my whole interior exept some of the dash and put in a matting similar to dynomat in the roof and doors(the floor has adequate matting from factory) and then to break up rouge frequencies sprayed on some Quiet Tone to anything that i couldnt mat.
Sounds great only thing that vibrates is my wing and that handle inside the trunk lid.

a big way i noticed to eliminate vibration.
1. leave ur 40 seat fold down, i custom installed a fiberglass mould to my seat so it actually looks good and folds still
2 i used rubber mounts on all my speakers in my doors, except my rear speakers. I have them set to sub/w and still don't hear any rattles. But as for front speakers, they should be tweeters and mid/tweeters anyhow so u shouldn't hear rattle from front end if u do it right.

My sub woofer is ported and if i crank it, U hear the trunk lid rattle and the wing. So really u could just tighten a few screws bolts or put little rubber gaskets in between metal screws etc. to eliminate noise easily. As for the trunk tho, u have to dynomat. Dynomating the trunk usually absorbs alot of the rattle thus eliminating front end rattle sometimes aswell. That is always the best start.

That foam idea is ingenious though. Im going to try the trunk and see if it helps.

Put a new sub in today( Hertz HX-250) built a custom box to fit on the passenger side behind the rear wheel. this sub is awesome! the cardboard box it comes in is bigger than the internal volume it needs. but anyway the sub absolutely pounds. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/460.gif) my back bumper vibrates now and my tail lights, and the glow-in-the-dark handle on the trunk lid, i am thinking of foaming up the bumper and tail lights but it'll be a SOB if i ever have to remove them. anyone got any ideas?

lol i took alot of the trunk apart and put towels down where i thought it was rattling.so if you take out that plastic part under the rear windshield shove a towel down in the very back of it and place some towels in the trunk behind the plastics you will have no rattles... i garauntee it cause i'm running 1150 watts worth of subs in my trunk and i have no rattles what so ever. Hmm..that's a good idea! My doors don't really rattle though. It's only my trunk.

Ya your right on, bro. That's where I kinda thought the rattling sound came from, right where the rear windshield and the plastic meet. Only question I have is if you stuff towels down in there, do you think with the change in temps all the time that it might get condensation on the towels and possibly get some nasty mold or start smelling or anything?

I had rattley door panels with the bass turned up came from both front doors. took it in to mitsubishi
and they took the door panels off and twisted the door lock cable because it was long resulting in rattling against the door. so try that?
Also another thing u can try is locking your doors and see if it quiets down a bit.
Good luck.
