First of all I would like to introduce myself. My name is French. I am new to this forum but not to Mitsus. My daily driver is a 2003 Outlander. I recently accuired a 1989 Mitsu Montero and am having a problem with it starting.
I have changed battery, Alternator, neg. and Pos. bat cables.
When it does run the charge goes to 16-18 V and stays there while I am driving. It takes a minute for the needle to move at first turn on.
Ant ideas would held.
you can email me at: frenchdugay at yahoo.com. change the at to @. I didnt want a spammer to get my addy.
Thanks in advance
French

Sounds like your Voltage regulator , if there is one in this vehicle, may be going bad
I do not have much repair experience with this vehicle, but if you have a chiltons repair manual you should find some help there. ...good luck

Isnt the voltage regulator on this model inside the alternator. If that is the case, I have already replaced it with the same results.
I was thinking I have a bad starter.Pulling too much current when it does start and taking a while to recharge the battery. With a fully charged bat, I get a click, sometimes not. I want to pull the starter and bench test it for turning ability.
