Hello All, I'm about to purchase an 09 Lancer and I have a few questions if you can help me? :D
1) For the Nav unit, can I watch video while driving? 1b)If not, is there a way to do this? (hack)
2) Is CDs the only way to get music on the hdd?
3) It says its a 30gb hdd, but the dude at the dealer said only 7gigs is for music?
4) The AUX jack, does it work well? (psp, iphone, anything?)
5) No USB?
6) Is swapping the NAV unit for another double din size system easy to do?
7) Hows the actual navigation feature?
8) What the hell does that little plug in the bottom of the sliding screen do?
9) Whats the actual horsepower of the car?
10) What do I need to watch out for when buying this car?
Thanks alot in advance guys, I'm getting the car at the end of the month, so any help and/or advice would be great!
Thanks!!!

1. No video while driving but yes there is a hack for it. see up above in the pinned threads 2. As far as I know CD's are the only way to get music onto the hard drive 3. 30 gigs total space, most is used up by the nav system and car software not sure on how much exactly is available for music space. 4. AUX jack works well with my MP3 player. 5. No USB port 6. Probably not easy but I dont know for sure 7. Nav feature works well, the voice is annoying so I turn that off. Directions can be screwy sometimes if its a newer location. (maps seem outdated) 8. plug in screen is for updating the software 9. Estimated RWHP is 137 (MT) and 133(AT) '08 2.0L engine 152 at crank 10. before you drive the car off the lot, walk around it and look closely for any damage. no matter how minor, if its a new car they should fix the damage.

Where do you live, what options are you getting with your car, and how much are you paying otd. Just wondering because I to am about to get a lancer.
Yo, I'm down in Bellflower CA, USA I went to www.edmunds.com and configured my Lancer GTS there, and it came out to about $23,139 MSRP, $21,700 Invoice, & $22,861 at what the general sale is. (navigation package, sun & sound package, accessory package, rear wing spoiler, & Sunroof Deflector) So kool. Funny story, I went down to the dealer the other day to test drive it. Felt great, I didnt feel a strong acceleration though, any similar stories? Sales guy was a complete doughbag though, no matter :P

9. 2009 GTS has 168hp 2.4L (as mentioned before), and all other FED-spec modelshave the 152 HP 2.0L. However, the partial zero emissions vehicle rating for the California spec 2.0L 2009 Lancer is 143hp at the crank and even less at the wheel than FED a la the additional catalytic converter. I am not 100% if there is a PZEV 2.4L or not, but from what I've been hearing, that's a negative -- they're all 168hp. wait.. RWHP? The MT only has 4 more hp at the (front) wheel than the manual? Nah, can't be. I know it's not estimated since dyno's have been performed pre-modding for the car.. anybody have one at hand? 10. If your car has damage at the lot, anything more than a scratch (which happens too easily), buy a different car. Not only that, don't do it just before you drive the car off the lot (presuming you bought it). Do that before you even sit down and start negotiating a price. Not only is it a major no-no to inspect the car after you've already bought it, but doing it before hand gives you extra leverage in the price if it's got scratches. Try to swing a better deal or some stuff thrown in, such as the 3M protection in addition to them fixing the scratch. It should be harder for them to sell a scratched car, so they should be more willing to deal with you on it. Additionally, before any service they perform, inspect the car with them. It saves hassles and arguments, and both sides are happy. [edit] This thread would probably be better suited for the General forum.

Awsome, Thanks for all the info guys.
Few more questions I got.
1) How good does the bluetooth work, I have an iPhone. I noticed on screen you can see contacts, how does that work?
2) I would like to do some street legal modifications for better performance, I plan on using Royal Purple for oil, Purple Ice for Radiator fluid, and getting a K&N filter for it. Also a Carb legal cold air intake. Good idea?
3) Does anyone else think the back of the new Lancers look way to thick?
4) How well does the AUX video/audio input work? can I plug my PSP and/or IPhone with movies on it up to it?

First off, I have the 2008 Lancer GTS but there can't be too much difference with the electornics and such. 4) I use it all the time. Use it for iPod, iPod Nano, XM Radio, sound from a Laptop. It works very well. One thing to be aware of is that if you get crappy cables or the equipment you're hooking up isn't well protected from electrostatic noise you will hear your alternator through the speakers. I'm also still wondering till this day why they put an AUX input instead of 3.5mm... but it's nothing a conversion cable can't take care of. 10) Color = paint. My white paint is bad. If you're offered a protective coating and they tell you it's recommended get it! Get them do throw it into the deal or something. The pain chips easy and especially if you live in a place where there is constantly rock on the roads (got damn government not using the tax money in the right places). Get 3M on your hood and around the lower potions of your rear doors... AFAIK the 2009 body is pretty well the same as the 2008 and your doors will get sandblasted if you don't have mudflaps. If you get the GTS the sideskirts "should" protect the doors from getting rocks on them, but they don't.

1 - bluetooth works great. My 4gig 1st gen iphone pairs up every time I get into the car, never had a prob. You can enter voice contacts on the hands free unit itself or use your contacts on your iphone. when listening to music and a call comes in the iphone will mute the music and the hands free system female voice says: incoming call, press the pickup key to answer, you then press the pickup button on the steering wheel and it answers. 2 - CAI is good. 3 - debage the back, will look much better 4 - aux works great with music and the iphone (i dont have the nav so not sure about video -- and I think no video at all while driving anyway, unless you hack the nav)

1) I use bluetooth with my phone, got the hands free system. I love it. Voice recognition is pretty exceptional. 3) I like the back. I think this car has one of the sexiest rear ends out there. The spoiler on the GTS works wonders though, I hate the Lancers without a spoiler
