My 97 gst spyder used to run smooth with no clicking and other sounds coming from the engine...

Ever since I changed my clutch, i've been hearing REALLY LOUD clicking and such coming from the engine...as if there is a loose stone juggling all over the place...

I have no idea wtf this is....but I know it happens exactly on 1000 rpm....anything lower or higher than 1000 rpm doesn't make the noise....but when i'm slowing down and reach 1000 rpm that loud clicking comes right away!!

Any ideas what this is....and why the hell does my mechanic say its normal? Hahah :liebe011:

I have heard that a throw out bearing can make that clicking noise, did you replace that as well?

Its part of your clutch assembly. Does it make a different noise when the clutch is engaged, as to when its disengaged?

DSM tick, or lifter tick. Its completely normal and you don't have to worry about it. IF its the lifter tick. It may be something else but what you described seems like dsm tick.

There is a mod you can do to increase the oil pressure and damper the sound of the dsm tick. Pwee, is that pinned? and if not, why isn't it?

My 3000GT has a really loud lifter tick. You can hear it over the exhaust with no cat or mufflers :o. I just dont want to take the intake manifold off to fix it.

Once I try to sell my car...this clicking is really going to downgrade its price...people are gonna think its messed up internally.....

Oh well I don't plan to sell my car, at least not in the next couple of years.....

to change the throwout bearing all you have to do is drop the trans, pull the old one off the clutch fork and toss the new one on.

there would be more detailed steps outlined in a chilton's or haynes manual

i have the same prob and i belive the throw out bearing could be the prob......you said that you only notice the sound after the clutch job so i would focus on that bearing and back.....if it stays with the clutch pressed or not it prolly could be your pilot bearing....

If it's a lifter tick it's not too bad to replace those. I did it on my 1.8 there were 8 lifters I think and I got em for $10-15 each. Had to take apart my timing though but I already had everything marked so it's pretty simple.
