ya i think he is a pretty honest guy, i mean he told me a higher price than what it ended up being and he could have got away with charging me more. i made him understand that my car wasnt acting like this before he did work on it and he said the mechanic never really messes up the timing. i dont have money to give him anyways ha. my car does seem to run better overall other than the low idle and stall

If they try and charge you anything at all, make some off handed remark about auto mechanic shops and the EPA and OSHA. I have never seen an auto repair shop with out at LEAST 5 OSHA violations at any one time. Usual OSHA violations will run about 5k for a simle violation. hehe

alright so they checked the timing, and did a few other things and are having me drive it and tell them how it runs tomorrow. i drove it to work and at first seemed fine (idles higher) but it still rumbles as i stop/remain still. i tried going in reverse (which was when it stalled out before) and it came really close to stalling. like i said, the car didnt run like this before they replaced the water pump/timing belt and is running the same since i brought it back the 2nd time (only difference is higher idle)....any ideas?

You know, I seem to be seeing problems similar to this pretty often with the 420a cars, even mine has it.
Funny thing, nbody seems to have a definitive answer to the problem.
Things I have done so far to try and fix the problem: New fuel filter, new vacuum hoses, cleaned throttle body and new gasket, new fuel pump relay. The only thing I haven't done: new IAC, cause it's $100 for the stupid thing. I am starting to think that is the issue.
I know, what's that got to do with the timing belt?........ Nothing. I just have a feeling that migh be it. Or the fuel pump it's self, and that's $180 or so.

ya i was thinking it might be the fuel pump or fuel filter but why it has to happen right after they are done with fixing the timing belt ><
