I hate to drag this old post out again but, I have the post trans problemresults.
This is what happened:
First of all let me make this clear, the transmission was making these noises with a new throwout bearing and clutch. I got a reman tranny and talked to the guy at the tranny shop and we did some extra work to track down the problem. We installed the reman tranny with the throwout bearing that was being used while the noise occured. After we did this and test drove it about 50 miles still no noise. So it could not be the throwout bearing. Now in these transmissions there is a cluster of gears that cannot be serviced by a shop. These gears are special assembled by mitsubishi. We examined every gear and bearing in the transmisson and they all looked fine. So the only thing it could be is somewhere in that cluster of gears. And if you have done anyother trans work on other applications with manuals, you would crap your pants to see how loose the throwout bearing fits on there. I origanally thought that had to be the problem. So I loaded up everything and talked to a guy at my local dealership. That is how they are supposed to be on there. So it is almost impossible for it to be the throwout bearing. Sorry for the long a$$ post but I hope this helps some others out in the future.
