Hello-

My daughter just bought a "97 Eclipse GS. 118,000 mi., new water pump, timing belt, alternator and starter. As soon as she got it home the check engine light came on and a little steam comes out from under the hood. Turns out coolant is bubbling out from the radiator cap.
What would cause this? The temp gauge stays normal for a long time then eventually it gets hotter. The reservoir is full and like I said water pump is new. Hopefully just the thermostat?

Any help would be greatly appreciated- Thanks for your time!!

Check the thermostat.

If it turns out looking pretty bad you can get one at autozone for like $8. It wouldn't hurt to get a new radiator cap for like $2 or 3 either.

Make sure you also get the thermostat gasket!
