I ask because I want to dye them black and need to know if the material is capable of being dyed.

I don't know what they are made out of, but you could go to the junkyard, and take a seat belt out of anycar, and die it. That way you can tell if it can be.

seat belts are made of polyester threads sewn and woven together tightly. polyester is highly resistant to UV light, but is still just a fabric therefore it is easy to dye it. just look up fabric dies, but remember before you actually change the color bleach the belt first, not completely white or anything, but bleach a lot of the color out of the belt first, that way your new dye color will not have a bleeding through other color.

Just thought I'd throw this in there, but make sure that the dye you use is not known to have any chemical reactions to polyester. You don't want it to loosen up the fabric or make it fray or anything.

You're making me jealous now, I'd love a set of those so I don't move forward when I press the brakes.
