i need to know more about the audio system in my 97 montero and dont feel like pulling it all apart to find out the speaker size, if there is a factory amp, etc. none of the normal websites i use, being a car audio installer, have any information on speaker size. why do they all make it seem like the montero sport is the only montero to matter?

I kno it can be fustrating. As i kno of , Montero/Pajero , in many aspects use the same and similar audio control units as a Diamante models.

Most of the systems are depending. Most as i kno of . Pajero's 1995-1998 Have mainly had dual din radios with an intergrated amp. Dual Din systems were on mainly every model altho speaker packaging differed.

Most upper model Pajeros that were equipped with Leather had 6-10 speaker sound systems.

The doors were 6 inch to 6.5. They are set in a dynamic sound enclosure , a plastic enclosure to enhance the sounds and also sheild the speakers frum rain and humidity in the frunt doors

The kick panels/bolsters are 3.5

the upper dash panel , near the window (94-96.5) sum 97 are 1 inch high range

97 up models are in the door and are also 1 inch high range

rear pass doors on LWD Pajeros have 6inch to 6.5 also

sum select Pajeros have 2 rear gate speakers also, and sum have 1 amp powere sub on the left hand side

Single din Audio do not have powered internal amps and have usually 4 speakers

Speakers are 6 1/2" in front, 6x9" in the back. Amp is in the headunit on factory base system, or external on Infinity system.
