by anychance did you remove the stock intake, or take out the two clips holding the intake scoop to the radiator support?

Check all your connections on your intake, the slightest leak could cause that kind of power loss in the slightly higher RPM's. I had this similar problem with my stock intake. But yea just check all your connections on you intake and make sure that they're pretty darn tight but not overtight.

Or it could be possible that your MAF is bad but if that were the case you would probably be throwing a code of some sort and have a Check Engine Light on. So if you don't then rule that out.

its possible if the converter is clogged but highly unlikely. You prolly need a mass air flow but its difficult to tell. Got any vacuum leaks?

The easiest thing to do is take it to AutoZone or someplace that has a code scanner and try to recreate the scenario where your car has the CEL come on. Then see if they can pull the code off your computer. That should give you alot better idea of what is off if you can get the CEL to come on and stay on long enough to get the code read.

There are just a few clamps holding it in place, take it off and use a gentle cleaner to clean it off or just get a new one and put it in. And also just unplug the wiring harness for the MAF and put a new one on.
