Not unless you really feel like dumping about 3 or 4k into an 8 year old car. And with the mileage on your car you still risk damaging the engine even quicker since it's a higher mileage car. So if you want a car to turbo, in my opinion you would be best off getting a 1g/2g out of a junkyard and fixing it up yourself. Spend about the same amount of money to get it going and you still have your everyday car to drive around in. That's the best idea for ya.

And as for running 89 in your car......don't half ass it. Either put the shitty stuff in it or keep using the good stuff. Don't use middle of the line. Now it won't hurt your car to use it, but it will not run bad and it will not run good. That's why I wouldn't use it, it's not as bad as 87 which makes you feel better, but then again it's not as good as 91 and it pisses you off knowing your car can run better. That's why I wouldn't do it, crappy or good, no middle of the line stuff.

As silver said, too many miles on the engine to turbo it. I would recommend you run premium, helps with predetonation which is a killer on engines. Whats it add up to per tank full...another $3-$5? If its that critical then use the 89. I don't personally. I would just go with premium. Unless you find a good deal on octane 100 racing fuel and then mix in 87 regular, thats a whole other story though. Further more, it's your car do whatever you want just deal with the consequences.

It doesn't matter if you use 89 octane in that car, btw.

It doesn't matter, but it won't run as good. Not that it matters anyways though, cause it's a Mitsubishi and it never really runs "good."

3 - 5 dollars? since when do the 3g's have 30-50 gallon tanks? 10 cent difference in most places. Maybe $1.20 per tank. even still, its not worth it. You wanted a "high performance" engine, so you need higher performance fuel.

(using the term "high performance" lightly)

Threads are getting boring nowadays. you have 2 choices, Save 5 dollars everyweek and fuck ur engine. Or pay 5 dollars extra and not get stuck one day without a car.

Think about it, on average you're going to fill our cars up with 13 gallons. Now 13 gallons times an extra 30cents between 87 and 91 octane, that equals just under $4 a fill up, $3.90 to be exact. That's where Rob gets his numbers. It's 15cents between fuel grades, but between 87 and 91 octane, it's a 30cent difference.

It's all good. We can't expect you to know how much each increment is in between each grade of fuel in the entire country. But 87 is low and 91-93 is premium depending on what gas station offers what.

You can do it, but on the V6's it's really not worth it for how slow your car still is, and by the time you spend all the necessary money on your car to turbo it properly, you might as well have gone out and bought yourself a car that is worth making fast. But that's just my opinion.
