Hi need help with the timing , what should it be set for on lpg on petrol it is + or _ 2 deg btdc but what should it be set on for gas? also i have problem with it on petrol it just wont run real good , it wont rev up lacking air , found this out by removing the mixer on top of the carby ive tried 2 other mixer and still have the same problem its cutting the air flow has any one else had this problem? i would guess so because when looking for other lpg mixers at the wreckers all had been modifide holes drilled , bored out etc Ive even thought about makin g up a gadget so i could adjust the dissy insidethe cab so ive got a gas and petrol setting. i can make it run ok but the not the best by changing the timing.

Please any help would greatful as even sprintgas the suppliers of the gas system have told me oh its just how it is just drive on gas. well then they shouldnt sell a dual full system thats doesnt run on both fuels

You say it wont run on petrol that well so you have tried different mixers?? Surely thats a gas issue??

Your van should say what the petrol timing should be on the underneath the seat, from memory its about 6 BTDC.

With Gas its not just as simple as adjusting the timing as the burning rate of LPG differs from that of petrol. At low RPM the burning rate is slower and more advance is needed. At high speeds the burning rate is faster, consequently less advance is needed.

I would try to get the van to run properly on Petrol before you go any further, check all your normal points, like vacuum leaks, electrics etc.

Bear in mind that your ignition system needs to be in top for for gas too. :)

Hope this helps..

Ok here what ive done new leads, plugs, cap and button. ran excellent on petrol till they put gas on it. timing for petrol is + or _ 2deg BTDC petrol runs great without the mixer as soon as i put mixer back on it wont rev up on petrol, runs ok on lpg but not the best sometimes back fires , maybe once every 2 or 3 days when tryin to take off from the lights , i drive it for 10 to 14 hrs a day every day, im a courier, i need it to run on petrol aswell because im not always near a lpg station to fill up b4 empty.
talked to a mechanic the other day about it he said i need the mixer to be fitted up near the aircleaner end at the end of metal pipe , i have got one of these now. Is there anyone in melb that would like to have a look at tunning it for me.

Ive tried 4 different mixer now 2 wer the ones from sprint gas the lpg installers, those guys are no help, just drive on gas they say.

It must be a common problem, trying to get a mixer from the wreckers 9 out of 10 mixers had been modified drilled machined out to the piont till they are now stuffed. ive talked to a few mechanics and they ask is it carby yes they say u going to have trouble with gettin it right. they dont even wanna have a look. ive now just adjusted the timing they set it at about 6deg BTDC it is now on 2. runs a lil bit better think i might need to get it dyno tuned. im in greensborough melbourne anyone no of anyone thats tuned these babbies b4 correctly.

Ah i get ya now. Yeah im in Adelaide unfortunately.

My mixer is about half way from the air cleaner to the throttle body and runs like a dream. Seams odd that it wont run on petrol properly with the mixer in place, it should be that much of a restriction. Maybe the mixer is mimicking the effect of being at high altitude as that will automatically adjust the timing on some models.
