MIVEC heads on the current 6G72? Or MIVEC on the 6G74? MIVECS an awsum feature but very costly depending on SOCH or DOCH.

If yur gunna do it on the 6G74 there are not DOCH MIVEC heads available in USA and SOCH MIVEC heads are gunna be pretty costly. Yu can drive around with the MLS with a thin mesh composite to give the engine a higher than stock compression like 10.5:1 or 10.8:1 etc or wutever it may be and get the HP that way along with other things as exhaust and intake system and a reflashed ECU etc.

And when yur ready to go turbo just use a higher mesh rate MLS to drop the compression to wut yu need it to be.

Besides that Variable Timing systems are just gimmicky , and there are ways around it. And to most effect , MIVEC models are higher compression engines. So they work hand in hand. At modest 10.0:1 compression.

Yes , and its not really off topic , we were discussing it in one the other similar topics , The 6G74 like the 6G72 that comes as an option in the american Galant in those years are in the same engine family , so they would be identical in size and height. So yes it would fit , even they use the same transmission

the 3000gt vr4 they are 6g72 (3.0L) doch twin turbo, twin intercooled
the push close to 300hp
know thats a bad ass motor for the price

but im going to go with the 6g74 doch (3.5L) and then twin turbo it
it should be pushing close to 400hp
thanks to  KiT TeUnG 2549

It all depends on the year .

As in the 92-95.5 (94-98 USA model year Galant) there was the 6A12 twin Turbo (2.0 V6) , and in 1994-late 1995 was the 6G73 NA which was the GSR , had all wheel drive but no Turbo and in 1995-1996 was a SUPER VR4 with a 6G73 twin turbo but was "low boost" had same HP numbers but more TQ than the 2.0 higher boosted 6A12 V6.

the 1996.5 on Galant (1999-2004 USA Galant) Featured the 6A13 twin turbo (2.5 V6)
and had a 6G73 GSR model with AWD and no turbo. and 1997.5 on came a SUPER VR4 wich featured the 6G73 and had a diffrent boost and charge air cooler setup than the 6A13 which had a central mounted charge air cooler and the 6G73 model in this Galant had dual side mounts , it was rated at 280hp in JP , but at production plants in Thailand it was rated 310 ps . I think Galant VR4's that were mainly just produced in japan and Thailand onlee went to specific asian countries , RHD , sum other countries exported them im sure

nah just the Diamante and GTO got 6G72 engine SOCH and DOCH , onlee the GTO got TT. BUt teh Diamante got AWD too tho like almost every car in Mitsubishi range.

But the 94-95.5 (92-96 americanbody style Diamante) in limited numbers got a tuned 270 HP DOCH MIVEC 6G72 with 4WS and adjustable suspension , this was because it did not get a turbo option like the upscale GTO did

yes a 6G74 with the proper boost will have tons of low end and very capable top end. Im soon gunna put pics up of my engine conversion , i got my DOCH MIVEC heads for my 6G74 of of an 96 GTO LM , My original heads were SOCH GDI MIVEC .

And with teh displacement of the 6G74 being under square its quite capable or quick reving, i limit mine at 7200 RPM

in the US the onley vr4 is the 3000gt
there is no vr4 galants unles they bring them over
the 3000gt vr4 is the same as the GTO
over in the US

but dang i but your car can rip it up then

This guy and i was chatting about exhaust systems today , in the Diamante ,Magna area. The 6G74 is undersquare so it wont have a problem in reving at all with DOCH heads , i limit mine to 7000/7200

Im not turbo tho , a really modified ECU programming , 11.2:1 compression etc but it is really agressive and get 3.0 turbo HP numbers in NA form

Id honestly say , hmm about a 1 BAR of boost (14.2 lbs) would give a 74 about 425-450 hp if doine right.

And yes i do have the correct brakes LoL Cant smell burnt ceramic after making a quick dash and having to get into the brakes , and then blame the smell on sumone elses car

Kit, what did the mivec set your pocket back and how would you rate the performance on the triton after the mod?
